Cyberbullying, online exploitation, and the quiet damage of an unmoderated internet are real threats for teenage girls in Kibera. This programme meets them where they are.

Navigating the Digital Mind runs workshops in five schools across Kibera, reaching over 1,100 girls with sessions on digital safety, emotional resilience, self-esteem, and peer support. Girls learn to recognise online threats and respond to them. They also learn to support each other.

Sessions include art therapy and journaling alongside the digital skills work, because confidence online starts with confidence inside the classroom. Peer support groups continue meeting bi-weekly after the formal workshops end.

Fifty teachers across the five schools are also trained to recognise and respond to digital wellbeing challenges in their students. The internet is not going away. We are making sure girls can use it on their own terms.
